Book Description
Welcome to my book about how to embrace the superpower of self-awareness throughout the chapters of your WorkLife Story. Here is a preview of what’s inside, along with the main ideas and the meaning behind these. WorkLife is our life at work, where we spend one third of our lives. It is also the impact our work has on our life outside of work, and the impact our life outside of work has on our work. All areas of our life in and out of work are so intrinsically linked, they cannot be separated, nor do I believe should they. I believe WorkLife needs to be considered holistically. Self-Awareness gives you the ability to take an honest look at your WorkLife to identify and evaluate what is good, bad or indifferent. It allows you to be your own best critic in recognising your strengths and weaknesses, things you want to keep, things you want to improve upon, or things you want to let go of. Taking ownership will energise you to make the small changes, to take the small steps that will make your WorkLife better. In this book, I tell three stories: 1. Imposter Syndrome: Bill’s story of how he was focusing on what he perceived to be his deficits and how through a colleague’s intervention he began to become more self-aware in recognising, appreciating and taking ownership of his natural skills and attributes both in and out of the workplace. 2. Start with Where You Are, with What You’ve Got, and with Who You Are: Maria’s story about how she was falling into the trap of being a perpetual student because she wasn’t as self-aware as she needed to be about where she was, what she had, and who she was. 3. What Am I Going to Be When I Grow Up? Or Maybe a Better Question Who Am I Going to Be at My Next WorkLife Stage?: Roisin’s story about how she had never really found her place in her WorkLife. How she had stumbled from one thing to another, all the time reinventing herself for everyone else. Until a wise woman helped her to tap into her own self-awareness to be able to answer these questions for herself. I share the exercises that helped to work through these challenging situations to resolve the dilemmas. I present these exercises as the following assignments for you to work through: Self-Awareness Assignment This assignment is to help you to recognise, appreciate and take ownership of your natural abilities, skills, attributes and unique capabilities. Develop a Practice of Continuous Self-Feedback Assignment This assignment is to help you to continue to be self-aware of who you really are when you’re at your best. Develop a Practice of Insightful and Effective Self-Questioning Assignment This assignment is to help you to use the power of questions to fine-tune your self-awareness. Evaluating Your Reality when Decision Making Assignment This assignment is to help you to evaluate your self-awareness in line with the reality of where you are, what you’ve got, and who you are, when you need to make decisions in your WorkLife. What Are You Going to Be at Your Next WorkLife Stage Assignment This assignment is to help you to believe in yourself, to believe you have the answer within you, and to believe that that discovery is yours alone through your self-awareness.

Book Description
"The Superpower of Accountability" is a deeply personal and reflective memoir that explores the author's journey through the complexities of love, relationships, and self-discovery. It delves into the author's experiences of seeking love and validation in unhealthy ways, often driven by past traumas and societal influences. The narrative is divided into chapters, each offering insights into different phases of the author's life and relationships. It begins with the early adulthood experiences that shaped her perceptions of love and beauty and then takes readers through a series of romantic entanglements, including infatuations with multiple individuals. Throughout the book, the author emphasizes the importance of accountability in one's life. She reflects on how a lack of self-awareness and accountability led her to make choices that caused unnecessary pain and suffering. The book invites readers to engage in self-reflection, exploring their own patterns and behaviors in life encouraging them to seek healing and personal growth. The central message of the book is that pain serves as an indicator, not a punishment. It is a signal that something within us needs attention and healing. Those who experience repeated cycles of pain fail to comprehend this truth. By acknowledging past mistakes, taking accountability, and embracing self-awareness, individuals can break free from destructive patterns and find healthier, more fulfilling ways to love and connect with themselves and others. Ultimately, "The Superpower of Accountability" offers a narrative of transformation and empowerment, demonstrating how self-reflection and accountability can lead to a life of healing, self-love, and authentic relationships.

Book Description
INTRODUCTION Your origin story is your backstory that reveals how you - the protagonist, became the leading character in your WorkLife story. Comic books tell the story of how the characters gained their superpowers and the circumstances under which they became superheroes. Like a comic book hero, your story needs a history that tells how you gained your superpowers and became a superhero in your WorkLife story. In this lesson, you will learn to recognise the turning point or the moment of transformation in which your character (you) evolves in a significant way or embarks on a mission that must be completed. You will learn to identify the events along the way where you recognised and took ownership of your superpowers that turned you into the Superhero of your Origin Story. You will learn The Art of Insightful Self-Questions and Effective Self-Feedback. You will learn to embrace and fine-tune your powers of Self-Awareness and Observation (superpowers in my book) through the Art of Journalling and Thinking. You will learn how to use Take Ten as a way to get your initial thoughts out of your head and down in writing to help you explore your ideas and figure out your story. You will learn how to Let Your Mind Wander and Wonder to help you think more deeply about what you want to say in developing your story. You will learn how to use speaking practices to give you a sense of how your story sounds and flows. You will be encouraged to test out your story on a trusted audience before (perhaps) sharing it with a wider audience - should that be a mission you want to accomplish. Through Jen’s story (the protagonist in the story/case study in this lesson), you will learn how to use The 5 Steps To Help You Create Your Powerful Origin Story.

Book Description
INTRODUCTION No matter what type of story you’re telling, Suspense is a valuable tool for keeping your audience’s attention and interest. Suspense involves raising a question that your audience wants answered. Suspense is often defined as high stakes, but you don’t need a ticking bomb to create high stakes. Whatever the stakes are, they need to be high for your protagonist. Your job as a storyteller is to get your character from point A to point B. Your character doesn’t have to be saving the world, but you have to get them there in the most interesting way possible. If you get them there by a straight line, that’s a pretty boring story. If you get them there by putting obstacles in the way, that requires going down unknown paths, which requires some bravery, then your story becomes more interesting. It’s not about finding out about that one big explosive moment. It’s about how are you going to make your character move through the difficult moments encountered on those new terrains. In this lesson, you will learn how to write about an important journey you’ve taken in your WorkLife. You will learn how to develop the outline of your story by tapping into 12 brainstorming questions. You will learn The Art of Insightful Self-Questions and Effective Self-Feedback. You will learn to embrace and fine-tune your powers, Self-Awareness and Observation (superpowers in my book) through the Art of Journalling and Thinking. You will learn how to speak your lines with the greatest impact and also how to use the power of non-verbal cues to create an even greater sense of … suspense … You will learn how to be attuned to when things go out of sync in your WorkLife through the Pursuit of Happiness Assignment. Through Sam’s story (the protagonist in the story/case study in this lesson), you will learn how to apply The 3 Ways To Create Suspense in Your Storytelling to take your audience on an … And Then What Happened? Journey …

Book Description
WALL STREET JOURNAL, LOS ANGELES TIMES, AND USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Anyone—even you!—can learn how to harness the power of humor in business (and life), based on the popular class at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Don’t miss the authors’ TED Talk, “Why great leaders take humor seriously,” online now. “The ultimate guide to using the magical power of funny as a tool for leadership and a force for good.”—Daniel H. Pink, #1 New York Times bestselling author of When and Drive We are living through a period of unprecedented uncertainty and upheaval in both our personal and professional lives. So it should come as a surprise to exactly no one that trust, human connection, and mental well-being are all on the decline. This may seem like no laughing matter. Yet, the research shows that humor and laughter are among the most valuable tools we have at our disposal for strengthening bonds and relationships, diffusing stress and tension, boosting resilience, and performing when the stakes are high. That’s why Jennifer Aaker and Naomi Bagdonas teach the popular course Humor: Serious Business at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where they help some of the world’s most hard-driving, blazer-wearing business minds infuse more humor and levity into their work and lives. In Humor, Seriously, they draw on findings by behavioral scientists, world-class comedians, and inspiring business leaders to reveal how humor works and—more important—how you can use more of it, better. Aaker and Bagdonas unpack the theory and application of humor: what makes something funny, how to mine your life for material, and simple ways to identify and leverage your unique humor style. They show how to use humor to rebuild vital connections; appear more confident, competent, and authentic at work; and foster cultures where levity and creativity can thrive. President Dwight David Eisenhower once said, “A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of getting things done.” If Dwight David Eisenhower, the second least naturally funny president (after Franklin Pierce), thought humor was necessary to win wars, build highways, and warn against the military-industrial complex, then you might consider learning it too.
