Revised and re-editedWhat would it be like to relinquish control?Neat and orderly, Ian Williams, is almost finished with his Master's degree in Psychology. All he has left to complete are finals and one simple project; take part in an outreach program for inmates close to release. With his knowledge, it should be easy to help an inmate prepare for life outside again. What he doesn't expect is Nico. A dirty talking, tattooed beast of a man who turns his world upside down when he says, "Mine!"What if you find your soulmate in the place you least expect it?With only a few months left in prison, Nico West is ready to move on with his life. He's got his business, a best friend, and his mamá waiting for him when he gets out. What he doesn't expect is a buttoned-up, bow tie wearing cutie who thinks he's going to help Nico prepare for life after his release. But Nico is a man who knows what he wants and takes it. One word and Ian will know where he stands, "Mine!"All of the books in the "He's Mine" series can be read as stand-alones, but are more enjoyable if read in order as characters from previous books may make an appearance. Our books are a little bit dirty and a whole lotta sweet. They're low-angst, contain explicit mm lovin', insta-love, possessive alphas who take what they want, #caveman, and maybe a virgin or two. You've been warned.

Simplicius: On Epictetus Handbook 27-53
Author: Charles Brittain
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 1780939035
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 201
Book Description
The Enchiridion or Handbook of the first-century AD Stoic Epictetus was used as an ethical treatise both in Christian monasteries and by the sixth-century pagan Neoplatonist Simplicius. Simplicius chose it for beginners, rather than Aristotle's Ethics, because it presupposed no knowledge of logic. We thus get a fascinating chance to see how a pagan Neoplatonist transformed Stoic ideas. The text was relevant to Simplicius because he too, like Epictetus, was teaching beginners how to take the first steps towards eradicating emotion, although he is unlike Epictetus in thinking that they should give up public life rather than acquiesce, if public office is denied them. Simplicius starts from a Platonic definition of the person as rational soul, not body, ignoring Epictetus' further whittling down of himself to just his will or policy decisions. He selects certain topics for special attention in chapters 1, 8, 27 and 31. Things are up to us, despite Fate. Our sufferings are not evil, but providential attempts to turn us from the body. Evil is found only in the human soul. But evil is parasitic (Proclus' term) on good. The gods exist, are provident, and cannot be bought off. With nearly all of this the Stoics would agree, but for quite different reasons, and their own distinctions and definitions are to a large extent ignored. This translation of the Handbook is published in two volumes. This is the second volume, covering chapters 27-53; the first covers chapters 1-26.
