Book Description
This is the second volume of Professor Macmurray's Gifford Lectures on The Form of the Personal. The first volume, The Self as Agent, was concerned to shift the center of philosophy from thought to action. Persons in Relation, starting from this practical standpoint, sets out to show that the form of personal life is determined by the mutuality of personal relationship, so that the unit of human life is not the "I" alone, by the "You and I."

Book Description
Many scholars and practitioners opine that public relations are all about building and maintaining an organization's relationship with its public. As human relationships depend on personal interactions, so, it naturally necessitates ethical as well as anthropological aspects. In fact, a vast majority of the scholars have already portrayed the ethical responsibility of the organization and the practitioner while dealing with various people. But a few of them have pointed out that public relation is needed to view anthropological perspectives, which, in turn, will be significant and virtuous for human beings. Accordingly, practical functional approach is the foremost requirement to overcome in dealing with the public relationships. Therefore, while exploring the public relations literature, we have tried to integrate these three aspects (relational, ethical and anthropological) and propose a reasonable ethical framework for the professional practice of public relations based on the dignity of the person.

Book Description
That we owe duties to others is a commonplace, the subject of countless philosophical treatises and monographs. Morality is interpersonal and other-directed, many claim. But what of what we owe ourselves? In Duty to Self, Paul Schofield flips the paradigm of interpersonal morality by arguing that there are moral duties we owe ourselves, and that in light of this, philosophers need to significantly rethink many of their views about practical reason, moral psychology, politics, and moral emotions. Among these views is the idea that divisions within a person's life enable her to relate to herself second-personally--that is, as though she were relating to a distinct other person--in the way required by morality. Further, there exist political duties owed to the self, which the state may coerce persons to perform. This amounts to a novel argument for paternalistic law, which appeals to considerations of right, justice, and freedom in order to justify coercing a person for their own sake--a liberal justification for an idea typically thought to be deeply at odds with liberalism. Schofield untangles how this view would impact various issues in applied ethics and political philosophy, for example, financial prudence and risk, the pursuit of the good life, and medical ethics. Duty to Self is essential for anyone working in moral and political philosophy or political theory.

Book Description
This book challenges, with several powerful arguments, some of our deepest beliefs about rationality, morality, and personal identity. The author claims that we have a false view of our own nature; that it is often rational to act against our own best interests; that most of us have moral views that are directly self-defeating; and that, when we consider future generations the conclusions will often be disturbing. He concludes that moral non-religious moral philosophy is a young subject, with a promising but unpredictable future.

Elaborating on the general principles of the European Convention on Nationality (ETS No. 166), this convention contains specific rules to be applied by states with a view to preventing, or at least reducing to the extent possible, cases of statelessness arising from state succession. It provides practical guidance on different issues such as: the responsibilities of the successor and predecessor states, rules concerning proof, the avoidance of statelessness at birth, the facilitation of acquisition of nationality by stateless persons, as well as international co-operation.
