Book Description
Shane Warne, who died in 2022, is universally acknowledged as one of the greatest cricketers of all time – and the greatest spin bowler ever. Warne in Wisden records the highlights of an exceptional career – handpicked from all Wisden publications over more than 30 years and curated for a global audience. Warne in Wisden features coverage from Warne's first Test against India in 1992 – where he took one wicket – to his retirement from Test cricket in 2007, having taken 708 Test wickets. It includes complete reports and scorecards for key Tests, as well as Wisden's assessment of his impact on the English county game and the Indian Premier League, and his journey from master spinner to global celebrity. Warne combined a prodigious talent for leg-spin with a turbulent life off the pitch. While Wisden's focus was generally on his cricket, Warne in Wisden also relates the controversies and rows that earned him a occasional mention in the Chronicle section of the book. Wisden's authoritative and independent voice/writing provides a unique insight into one of the most discussed cricketers in history. Warne in Wisden includes: Cricketer of the Year by Vic Marks, 1994 'A Spin-Doctor Writes' by Ashley Mallett, 1997 Five Cricketers of the Century, 2000-13 Leading Cricketer in the World, 2004-2005 'The mighty craftsman' by Mike Atherton 2007 'The Ashes Masters' by David Frith 2009 The ebbs and flows of Warne's 21-year-long career His obituary and related articles from Wisden Cricketers' Almanack 2023 Scorecards of his most significant Test matches Colour plate section

Book Description
As if recovering from a raucous dream of the 1960s, Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell, and Dan Peek arrived on 1970s American radio with a sound that echoed disenchanted hearts of young people everywhere. The three American boys had named their band after a country they’d watched and dreamt of from their London childhood Air Force base homes. What was this country? This new band? Classic and timeless, America embodied the dreams of a nation desperate to emerge from the desert and finally give their horse a name. Celebrating the band’s fiftieth anniversary, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell share stories of growing up, growing together, and growing older. Journalist Jude Warne weaves original interviews with Beckley, Bunnell, and many others into a dynamic cultural history of America, the band, and America, the nation. Reliving hits like “Ventura Highway,” “Tin Man,” and of course, “A Horse with No Name” from their 19 studio albums and incomparable live recordings, this book offers readers a new appreciation of what makes some music unforgettable and timeless. As America’s music stays in rhythm with the heartbeats of its millions of fans, new fans feel the draw of a familiar emotion. They’ve felt it before in their hearts and thanks to America, they can now hear it, share it, and sing along.

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 I announced my retirement from international cricket on 21 December 2006, almost exactly 15 years after first appearing for Australia against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground. I was done, physically and mentally, and had the feeling that I’d run out of arse anyway. I knew there would be sadness. #2 I was first at the ground on Boxing Day morning 2006, before the rest of the team. I was nervous, and felt uneasy. I was excited to be bowling in my last Test match, and I thought about how I had enjoyed the past 17 years of first-class cricket. #3 I was extremely nervous before the toss, but I was excited too. I was told that the person who wrote the script had done a good job. I began to bowl, and I felt that both batsmen were surprised by the spin. I felt that I could get them out eventually. #4 I loved the challenge of bowling the England team, as I knew I could never get them out. I was able to block out everything else and focus on what had to be done in that moment. I was able to switch on and off, and I felt everything happened slowly and clearly.

Book Description
'A superb portrait of the most brilliant cricketer of his generation' Mike Atherton Shane Warne dominated cricket on the field and off for almost thirty years - his skill, his fame, his personality, his misadventures. His death in March 2002 rocked Australians, even those who could not tell a leg-break from a leg-pull. But what was it like to watch Warne at his long peak, the man of a thousands international wickets, the incarnation of Aussie audacity and cheek? Gideon Haigh saw it all, still can't quite believe it, but wanted to find a way to explain it. In this classic appreciation of Australia's cricket's greatest figure, who doubled as the nation's best-known man, Haigh relieves the highs, the lows, the fun and the follies. The result is a new way of looking at Warne, at sport and at Australia. 'Bloody brilliant... As good as anything I have read on the game' Guardian Winner of The Cricket Society and MCC Book of the Year
