Book Description
Mentor's Guide - Description This is the Mentor's Guide for the first of a three-volume series called, Mentoring His Way - Disciple Twelve based on the "Twelve Characteristics of a Godly Life." In this first book, we learn about the four "Spiritual Characteristics of a Godly Life." I am a Believer: I know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior The first characteristic of a Godly life is about your assurance of knowing Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. To conform to the image of Christ, you need to have no doubts that He is in your life and that you are assured of your relationship with Him and that you have eternal life. I am Empowered: I am controlled and empowered by the Holy Spirit The second spiritual characteristic of a Godly life is understanding the power we have available to live the Christian life. Each day we choose to gratify the desires of the flesh or the will of the Spirit. Our spirit is satisfied only when we are totally surrendered to the control of God the Holy Spirit. I am Victorious: I have Christ's authority over all the enemy's power The third spiritual characteristic of a Godly life is to apply Christ's power over Satan. People struggle with temptation every day. We can have real victory over sin by exercising Christ's authority over all of Satan's influence. Because we have Christ in us, He gives us the power and authority over the enemy to stop his attacks. I am a Warrior: I put on all of God's armor in order to defeat Satan The fourth spiritual characteristic of a Godly life is learning how to put on the full armor of God for warfare against the enemy. God promised a way to keep temptation from becoming so strong that we could not stand up against it. He gave us six pieces of armor and instructions for their use. This gives Christians the ability to walk in the Spirit instead of walking in the flesh. Volume Two covers the "Personal Characteristics of a Godly Life." Volume Three covers the "Lifestyle Characteristics of a Godly Life."

Book Description
Nearly all Christians would affirm the centrality of prayer for a healthy Christian life. And yet, for many, prayer is often a challenge, requiring intense personal commitment and self-discipline. However, as Megan Hill points out in Praying Together, our normal approach to prayer leaves out a crucial component: other people. While personal prayer is important, God designed the church to be a community of believers who regularly pray together. Exploring the Bible's rich teaching on what it means to gather at God's throne with one voice, Hill lays a theological foundation for corporate prayer and offers practical guidance for making it a reality—in our families, churches, and communities.

Those who walk in Gregory's steps will discover practical guidance for the journey into mentoring, including the formation of a mentor's soul, and wisdom in learning to care for others. Gregory describes mentoring as the "art of arts," the highest creative endeavor we share together. Gregory has ancient wisdom applicable to mentoring in our time, both for mentors and mentees, friends and family, coaches and teachers, clergy and spiritual directors, among other people looking for guidance in the ancient art of caring for souls.

Book Description
Success. Job satisfaction. Leadership. How are these developed and nurtured in a nursing career? Can mentors make a difference? They can and do, according to this book---edited by two pioneering researchers in the field of nursing mentorship. Here they explore the conceptual and practical aspects of mentorship and what it means in nursing. They are joined by more than a hundred nurses, including nurse leaders such as Beverly Malone, Marla Salmon, and Joyce Fitzpatrick, who contribute stories, essays, and personal reflections on mentorship. Their voices, in addition to the editor's research, suggest that nurses are inventing a new, evolving, and very meaningful paradigm, which reaps mentorship's classic benefits: career success and advancement personal and professional satisfaction, enhanced self-esteem and confidence, preparation for leadership roles and succession, and strengthening of the profession. The book describes the dynamics of both informal mentor relationships and structured mentorship programs, such as those used in schools of nursing to help disadvantaged students. In addition to looking at education, the book describes how mentorship plays a role in the practice setting, in professional organizations, and with peers and groups, and how it promotes international and cross-cultural understanding.

Book Description
Life on Life is a different approach to mentoring. As the subtitle (The Practice of Spiritual Mentoring) indicates, it is both practical and spiritual at the same time. It is practical because it gives guidelines as to how to mentor. Peter even incorporates many important "do's" and "don'ts" of mentoring. It's the spiritual aspect of mentoring that really makes this book come alive. Peter suggests that it is the Holy Spirit that should be the guide that both the mentor and his protA(c)gA(c) should follow. It's the mentor's job to help discern the Spirit's leading and follow. He has the attitude before his mentoree of "Follow me, follow Christ." There is a chapter entitled "Being Led by the Holy Spirit in Mentoring," which gives insight into the spirituality of mentoring. Other compelling chapters are: - Recasting the Vision for Mentoring - The Attitude of a Mentor - It's About Story - Template for Our Stories: The Journey of Transformation - A Biblical Example of Mentoring The author even includes a chapter from each of two of his longtime mentorees. It's fascinating to get their perspective on this style of mentoring. Maybe the best part of the book are the stories, both his and his mentorees, that Peter intertwines through the book. Look in particular for the one about his blind friend, Michael. It's truly inspirational. Peter's letter to his father to his father long after his death (see appendix B) is poignant and sets the backdrop for Peter's journey to becoming a "mentor of mentors." Peter has encouraged many men to write letters to their fathers which have born much fruit. Many men were not fathered well and need a mentor to come alongside to encourage them in their journey through life. If you are one of them or would like to mentor another man, this book is for you!

Book Description
Today’s Christian women do not simply want nice fellowships and cookie-cutter answers about how to deal with life. Though churches are filled with good ministry programming—activities, outreach events, and an endless selection of options—many churches neglect their fundamental mission to make disciples. Christian women want to mentor and to be mentored, though they may not fully understand what that means, the significance of this desire, or how to get there. The church must rise to answer these questions, meet life’s challenges, and develop creative ways of equipping modern women to mentor well. In Mentor for Life, Natasha Sistrunk Robinson lays a solid foundation for mentoring that is based on God’s kingdom vision, challenges women to consider the cost of discipleship, and the high calling they have received in Christ. It shows how to develop mentoring relationships that function communally in existing small groups that are diverse and inclusive. It also presents a mentoring framework of knowing and loving God, understanding our identity in Christ, and loving our neighbor, which encourages theological reflection and cultivates a basic Christian worldview. Filled with examples from Robinson’s experience in the military and business world, this resource gives readers the wisdom they need to disciple others and as a foundation for kingdom service.
