Book Description
Funny, surreal, provocative, disturbing The Millennial Fables deal with our American culture at the end of the 20th century. Things are different here. So, don't be surprised if children start to float or someone's arguing with Jesus or you come upon a mountain made of millions of discarded men. What's more, don't expect anything that could be called heartwarming or inspirational. If anything, these stories have the bad manners to laugh at all that. These are graffiti on the great, façade of modern, liberal humanism. They are devoutly heretical fantasies. They are meant to unsettle and nag. They are seven short stories that can only cause trouble. It's been said that when reality becomes absurd, satire becomes useless. Then again, things are different here.

Book Description
The potential of storytelling as a research tool for enhancing the understanding of knowledge creation, acquisition and conversion into innovation and innovative business activities is the methodological underpinning of this book's narrative approach. The subtitle comes from Lynceus, one of the Argonauts who accompanied Jason to Colchis in his quest to find the Golden Fleece, who was said to have excellent sight. Among the various interpretations of the meaning of the Fleece, one version highlights the importance of discovery to innovation by voyaging to 'terrae incognitae' (unknown lands). This book is a narrative of a fictional voyage to the 'terra incognita' of Innoland the island of innovation and other mental travels that make sense of events and actions which spur innovation. Stories of Innovation for the Millennial Generation is written for Millennials willing to assimilate and grow dynamic, innovation-driven capabilities which lead to the creation of high-impact startups.

Book Description
Fables of Development: Capitalism and Social Imaginaries in Spain (1950-1967) focuses on a basic paradox: why is it that the so-called “Spanish economic miracle” —a purportedly secular, rational, and technocratic process— was fictionally portrayed through providential narratives in which supernatural and extraordinary elements were often involved? In order to answer this question, this book examines cultural fictions and social life at the time when Spain turned from autarchy to the project of industrial and tourist development. Beyond the narratives about progress, modernity, and consumer satisfaction on a global and national level, the cultural archives of the period offer intellectual findings about the expectations of a social majority who lived in the precariousness and who did not have sufficient income to acquire the consumer goods that were advertised. Through the scrutiny of interdisciplinary archives (literary texts, cinema, newsreels, comics, and journalistic sources, among other cultural artifacts), each chapter offers an analysis of the social imaginaries about the circulation and distribution of capital and resources in the period from 1950, when General Franco’s government began to integrate into international markets and institutions following its agreements with the United States, to 1967, when the implementation of the First Development Plan (1964-1967) was completed.

Book Description
In the countdown to the Third Millennium, time and events tend to be scrutinized apprehensively. Ordinary human fear of portents and oracles becomes intensified. Peter Porter's new collection acknowledges this pressure, and protests against it. More than ever, his poems address contemporary life in its present flux, while forecasting a turbulent future. The second part of the book, entitled "Homage to Robert Browning," is a series of monologues and character pieces in which individual voices speak to us from a wide range of occasions and places. An imaginary notebook kept by Bach's first wife Maria, Barbara, and poems called "Aesop's Dressing Gown," and "Berenson Spots a Lotto," all give an idea of Porter's wide-ranging curiosity and knowledge, which he displays wit great generosity and humor.
