Book Description
This unique and timely text is designed to help food science students learn to perform critical analysis of food processing technology and consider the incorporation of elements that touch on contemporary technological developments in the food sector. As the food industry adjusts to new consumer demands for safe and low processed foods, the time has come to harmonize product and process engineering with ‘relationship engineering’ from farm to fork. This increasingly allows the opportunity for food sector professionals to consider the existence of new drivers of food consumption. These newly discovered drivers are explored in great detail over the course of this book from industrial, economic and human resource viewpoints. Social Drivers In Food Technology presents a series of helpful case studies are presented covering six important food sectors: chocolate, coffee, yogurt, juice, baby food and snacks. These cases have been chosen in order to illustrate dynamic and innovative advances in food processing technology. The information provided over the course of this book has been gained through the thorough study of both scientific literature and organizational reports from food processing companies. The major economic aspects related to food technology are also outlined throughout the text. This multidisciplinary approach is motivated by the opportunity to contextualize the technological debate in strategy and organizational economics, contributing to the formation of human resources. This text is informed by the concept that one must look beyond the technology of the food processing sector and discuss opportunities that involve re-thinking product innovation and process, knowledge generation and human resource training. These innovations have been highlighted in food science & technology literature, but their economic and managerial implications have remained unexplored until now. With its informative case studies, helpful illustrations and quizzes and comprehensive, well-organized scope, Social Drivers In Food Technology is a much-needed textbook that will allow students to look at food processing technology from both industrial and economic perspectives and to consider the important human resource elements involved.

Book Description
Katja Wagner investigates consumer behavioral intention and interactions with new technologies and digital channels. Due to the fact that the development, spread and sale of these new technologies and digital channels will have a continuous growth and influence in the following years regarding business activities, it is important to take a deeper look in the areas of artificial intelligence and e-commerce. Not only business is affected from these new shifts, but it also impacts consumers’ attitudes, motivation, and practices. So, the evaluation of anthropomorphism and in general, the expectation and motivation of successful acceptance are under review and offer explanations for consumers intentional usage of new technologies. Therefore, six essays address specific phenomena in central subareas of new technologies and digital channels for a more profound understanding of consumers in digital environments.

Book Description
This book discusses sustainable waste management technologies for managing end-of-life (EoL) post-consumer and packaging plastic solid waste (PSW) from domestic and commercial waste streams. It does so particularly in the context of providing a way forward for developing economies. Treating recycling and composting of, and energy recovery from, plastics, the book is directed at individuals who are responsible for or have a significant role in solid waste management. Academics and students in solid waste management pursuing research or study in solid waste management with particular interest in plastics will find this book useful. Sustainable options for managing PSW are presented with reference to the scientific, engineering, and management standpoints to enable decision makers and relevant stakeholders in industry arrive at the best decision for achieving sustainable resource management. The book further integrates waste management and technologies so that PSW recycling can be viewed from environmental, economic, and social perspectives. Greener technologies for PSW management are addressed so as to provide drivers that will influence key stakeholders and policy-makers achieve sustainability in this field.

Book Description
Despite a growing body of research and targeted remediation, teenage and novice drivers continue to be six to nine times more likely to die in a crash than they are when they are just a few years older. The World Health Organization reports that road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death globally among 15 to 19 year olds. In light of these crash statistics, understanding the teen driver problem remains of paramount public health importance around the world. The Handbook of Teen and Novice Drivers: Research, Practice, Policy, and Directions provides critical knowledge for a broad range of potential readers, including students, teachers, researchers in academics, industry and the federal government, public policy makers at all levels, insurance companies and automobile manufacturers, driving instructors, and parents and their teens.

Book Description
The globalized economy, dominated by the diffusion of innovation and social, political, and economic changes, allows people and knowledge to flow without knowing what lies ahead. As new economies emerge and technologies impose significant changes, the internationalization of markets and industries has made defining its delimitation more difficult. Competitive Drivers for Improving Future Business Performance is a conceptualized reference source that discusses the use of digital skills to manage change in volatile contexts and provides fundamental understanding of competitive advantage to guarantee superior performances. To assure this level of performance, a set of choices (drivers) must be created ensuring operational efficiency, innovative products, customer knowledge-base, and focused branding. Featuring research on topics such as consumer experience, strategic leadership, and flexible technologies, this book is ideally designed for managers, executives, entrepreneurs, academicians, consulting professionals, researchers, industry professionals, and students seeking coverage on how to improve competitive performance in an era of uncertainty.

Book Description
The Fast and The Furious: Drivers, Speed Cameras and Control in a Risk Society presents a sociological and criminological perspective critical to understanding the driver's role at the centre of road safety interventions. Such an approach is, it is argued, as crucial to an understanding of attempts to reduce road crashes, deaths and injuries as approaching such questions from an engineering or educational perspective. The book offers an explanation for the continued debate about one road safety intervention - the speed camera - by situating that debate within contemporary literature about the 'risk society' (Beck, 1992) and more broadly understood experiences of risk faced on a daily basis by drivers. Rather than a focus on risk as something that can be objectively assessed, measured and managed separately from the social context in which it is encountered, it suggests that 'risk' is something that permeates this particular debate from every angle. The book achieves its aims by utilising sociological and criminological perspectives to investigate issues such as: - the social context in which it is possible for drivers to reject official scientific expertise about crash causation and camera effectiveness - the self-defined 'respectability' of the population being problematised and its juxtaposition with a 'proper' police focus on 'real criminals' - the reconceptualisation of law-breaking as risk-taking rather than inherently 'wrong' behaviour and its consequences for the enforcement of laws based on risk assessment - the experience of being controlled by technology and of receiving what is essentially 'automated justice'. These and other issues are explored and suggested as illuminating of both the real concerns underpinning this debate and potentially instructive for future attempts to control risky behaviour both within and beyond a road safety context.
