Book Description
This Book One of a trilogy follows the life of one Johnny Duggan. This part covers his formative years. Johnny was born just before the start of the Second World War. His life as a young boy was somewhat controlled by his father. At preparatory school, moreover, he found that he was bullied by one particular ruffian and, later on at college, by two others. When he left school, he found that bullying was not necessarily limited only to educational establishments. Constantly being goaded by his parents, he made up his mind to find a new life for himself in Africa. The Second book follows his life as it unfolds in the then brand new independent country of Zambia. It follows the twists and turns that Johnny encounters before he returns to the United Kingdom. The Third book follows Johnny to Switzerland and then back to Africa, firstly to South West Africa (now Namibia), and then to South Africa and the USA before he finally returns to the United Kingdom to hang up his roving shoes. But that is not the end!

Book Description
The notes exhibited in this catalogue are Hell 'Bank' Notes. In fact, they are what is called 'faux' money and as such are certainly not justifiable bank notes. They are used in China and many countries in Eat Asia specifically to burn as offerings to the spirits of departed loved ones in the belief that such money can be drawn from the Bank of Hell and used in Paradise. In this context, Hell and Heaven are synonymous with one another. They are an interesting example of 'Exonumia', or paper that does not belong in any way to the realm of strict bank-note collecting.

Book Description
The first US Wooden Nickel 'Flat' was issued in Tenino as a result of the Great Depression in 1931. The issue of such an instrument to cope with the shortage of money at the time proved such a success that other communities quickly followed suit. It was not long before communities were issuing Wooden Nickel 'Flats' to commemorate land-marks in their history. This book looks at just a mere sampling of these interesting bits of Americana and what prompted their issue as commemorative pieces.

Book Description
Gardening YouTube sensation Huw Richards shows how to inexpensively grow year-round vegetables from just one raised bed. Keyed to a temperate coastal climate but adaptable to variations in temperature and rainfall, Huw's clear, practical advice will help you produce a bountiful harvest with minimal space and effort. In just one raised bed, green thumb wunderkind Huw Richards shows you how to grow vegetables easily, organically, abundantly, and inexpensively so you have something to harvest every month of the year. Month by month, discover what you need to do and how to do it. Try it in your yard, a small garden, or even on a roof terrace. Everything is explained in clear, photographed steps: building your bed, growing from seed, planting, feeding, and harvesting. Huw shows how to guarantee early success by starting off young plants on a windowsill. He suggests what to grow in each part of the bed and provides alternative vegetables to swap in or out depending on what you like eating. No-dig gardening methods remove most of the back-breaking work, too. Veg in One Bed goes beyond the inspiring demonstrations on his YouTube channel Huw's Nursery. In this book, he organizes all of his ideas and suggestions into a blueprint for growing your own vegetables month by month. Very little growing experience? Only a small space? No matter--with Veg in One Bed, you can still eat food you have grown throughout the year.

Book Description
Proud of Their Heritage and Sustained by Their Faith, They Came to Tame a New Land She had promised herself that once they left the fjords of Norway, she would not look back. After three long years of scrimping and saving to buy tickets for their passage to America, Roald and Ingeborg Bjorklund, along with their son, Thorliff, finally arrive at the docks of New York City. It was the promise of free land that fed their dream and lured them from their beloved home high above the fjords of Norway in 1880. Together with Roald's brother Carl and his family, they will build a good life in a new land that promises untold wealth and vast farmsteads for their children. As they join the throngs of countless immigrants passing through Castle Garden, they soon discover that nothing is as they had envisioned it. Appalled by the horrid stories of fellow immigrants bilked of all their money and forced to live in squalid living conditions, the Bjorklunds continue their long journey by train as far as Grand Forks. From there a covered wagon takes them into Dakota Territory, where they settle on the banks of the Red River. But there was no way for them to foresee the price they will have to pay to wrest a living from the indomitable land. The virgin prairie refuses to yield its treasure without a struggle. Will they be strong enough to overcome the hardships of that first winter?

Book Description
Forages, Volume I, Seventh Edition is the most comprehensive text available for teachers of undergraduate Forages courses. This edition will provide students with a good balance of scientific principles, to aid in integrating the concepts they learn, and practical information on forage identification, plant characteristics, management, and utilization that can be used by forage management practitioners. Grassland ecosystems are extremely complex, including the plant/animal interface as well as the soil/climate/forage interface and the text must support understanding and integration of all of these considerations. The coverage of the science behind the plant characteristics and responses make the book applicable in many parts of the world, while other region-specific management information relates mainly to North America. This edition has been updated to address emerging areas of study, including the use of forage plants as bioenergy crops. The editors also address the renewed national interest in environmental issues such as water quality, global climate change and eutrophication in the Gulf. This edition also addresses the role of forages for wildlife habitat and food sources, another area of increased interest in recent years. These revisions respond to the generational change taking place among forage scientists and teachers in recent years.

Book Description
The Guardians - Book 1 begins with an alien attack on Earth by a ruthless and merciless race of aliens called the Tyrax. They send a doomsday weapon that detonates multiple missile warheads over twenty-four sparsely inhabited land areas around the globe. It causes a biological transformation using nanobots that threaten to destroy all life forms on the planet within days. At the same time a Peruvian archeologist discovers a hidden chamber under a royal Inca temple in Cuzco, Peru that tells a story of past Inca rulers who seemed to worship alien beings from the time of the Spanish Conquistadors. During the attack an alien who calls himself Òmon makes contact and offers to help stop the alien nanobiotech contagion from engulfing Earth. Brandon Cole who works for NASA and a special team from the U.S. government are sent to Peru by the President to investigate the discovery. Òmon says he is one of the Guardians left behind to protect Earth from this ruthless race of beings intent on wiping out all living organisms on Earth so they can terraform the planet to their DNA. Over the centuries, Òmon has recruited a special group of human beings from the past to help fight the invading alien race. The battle begins between the attacking aliens, Òmon and the human race to prevent all life on Earth as they know it from being erased forever. The psychological impact on the human race is considerable. The ecological impact on the planet and the solar system will be incalculable. This is only the beginning for survival of the human species.
