Book Description
The story of Charles Haddon Spurgeon's life is nothing less than titanic. Within 2 years and 6 months of accepting the pastorate of the New Park Street Chapel as a boy of 19, the Sunday service grew from 242 to over 7,000 in attendance. What can account for the meteoric rise in popularity? Why did so many wish to hear his sermons? It is the same reason why one ought to study the sermons of Spurgeon to this day: in a famished land of moralism, he preached the bread of Jesus Christ. Containing the first three volumes of the sixty-three volumes published from the Metropolitan Tabernacle pulpit, this book holds 164 sermons, 'as plump as a partridge, and as full of meat as an egg.' David A. Attebury is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Book Description
Charles Haddon Spurgeon (19 June 1834 - 31 January 1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers". Spurgeon was to 19th century England what D. L Moody was to America. Although Spurgeon never attended theological school, by the age of twenty-one he was the most popular preacher in London. A strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church of his day, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times each week at different places. Spurgeon was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years, despite the fact he was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later had to leave the denomination. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally, and he also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him posthumously. Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works, including sermons, an autobiography, commentaries, books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more.

Book Description
Within His Wounds contrasts the redemptive treasures of Jesus with popular doctrines that circumvent the message of His cross. From many prominent platforms the absolute truths of atonement are no longer primary. Humanism is ascending where Christ centered preaching has been abandoned. Worldly philosophers are filling our sacred pulpits. Cross depleted sermons are giving counterfeit comfort to vast audiences. Hollow professions of faith are many, but genuine conversions to Christ are few! Fans are multiplying, disciples are vanishing and lost souls are perishing! Within His Wounds is a clarion call back to Calvary where Jesus suffered and died in our place. The wounds that led to His death are the wounds that lead us to His life.
