Book Description
The Ethical Warrior concept was developed and is practiced by the United States Marine Corps. It is transmitted to the Marines through the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). The concept has been adapted for Law Enforcement and is referred to as the Ethical Protector concept. This book is adapted from a series of articles written originally for LEOs on PoliceOne.com, but be assured, the lessons herein are timeless and immutable. They can, have, and will grant us clarity. Clarity for the protector in all of us.The authors' wisdom and talent to deliver these lessons is unsurpassed. Bruce Gourlie is a Federal Supervisory Special Agent, certified in firearms and Police instruction. He is a leadership instructor, a published author, a former US Army infantry officer and a long-time practitioner of martial arts. Jack Hoban is a Subject Matter Expert for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and president of Resolution Group International (RGI). He had the privilege of being mentored by Dr. Robert “Bob” Humphrey, a Natural Law sage and Cold War conflict resolution expert, who first articulated the Dual Life Value Theory. Jack also is a long-time student of Japanese martial arts master Masaaki Hatsumi, and under Dr. Hatsumi's tutelage, has become a true adept of the martial ways."The concept of the Ethical Warrior — or Ethical Protector, if you prefer — as proffered by Jack Hoban and Bruce Gourlie in their PoliceOne column of the same name has been very highly regarded by law enforcement officers visiting the website. Their adaptation of the United States Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) model for use in police work has the potential to make a wonderful profession even more remarkable. If you're a cop — or aspire to be one — this book can be an invaluable resource."Doug WylliePoliceOne Editor in Chief

Book Description
What is the relationship between caste and gender in the narratives of Rajput woman? During a year and a half of fieldwork in Rajasthan, a parched land dominated by the great Indian Desert, Lindsey Harlan interviewed more than a hundred women from all levels of Rajput society. She wanted to understand why certain religious practices were so important to Rajput women, and how they justified these to themselves. During the course of her interviews, the women described their religious practices—chief among them the worship of the family kuldevi (the goddess who exemplifies the ideal wife by staving off sickness, poverty, and infertility) and the veneration of satimatas (women who have immolated themselves on their husband's funeral pyre). As the women discussed these rituals, many of them also told Harlan religious myths and stories, drawing parallels between their behavior and that of various Indian heroines. These narratives and the role they play in the women's self-perception are the fascinating and enlightening subject of this book. Book Description
Political hackers, like the Anonymous collective, have demonstrated their willingness to use political violence to further their agendas. However, many of their causes are intuitively good things to fight for. This book argues that when the state fails to protect people, hackers can intervene. It highlights the space for hackers to operate as legitimate actors; details what actions are justified towards what end; outlines mechanisms to aid ethically justified decisions; and directs the political community on how to react. Applying this framework to hacking operations including the Arab Spring, police brutality in the USA, and Nigerian and Ugandan homophobic legislation, it offers a unique contribution to hacking as a contemporary political activity.
