In May 1969, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the Indian Health Service, and the American Paediatrics Committee on Indian Health, cosponsored a Conference on Nutrition, Growth and Development of North American Indian Children. The conference emphasized the broad range of environmental and social factors which affect the health and development of Indian children.
