Book Description
In order to dwell within and enjoy the bliss of Nonduality, Peace of Mind is required. This abiding Peace is predicated upon the attainment of equanimity and contentment, and both of those are dependant upon fulfilling one’s desires in the dharma. But there is one onerous presence that can, almost effortlessly, undo the practitioner’s crucial spiritual practice and spoil a sincere aspirant’s bid for Peace leading to Enlightenment, and that is the insinuation of work, or action. According to Swami Vivekananda, “Work is the midday sun that is burning the very vitals of humanity. It is necessary for a time, but in the end is a morbid dream.” This is even more true in today’s humming multiple marketplaces and office buildings, whose teeming masses rush, like a raging springtime river in spate, to gain everything that the world can offer — all of it empty and unfulfilling in the end. Activity can never bring about liberation either, but is more often the cause for bondage of the soul to matter and nature. As Shankara has reminded us, “Moksha can never be gained by thousands of asanas, or by hundreds and thousands of breathing exercises, nor by millions of acts; nor does wealth and progeny bring it.”

Book Description
The thousand-year-old Sanskrit classic the Bhagavatapurana, or "Stories of the Lord," is the foundational source of narratives concerning the beloved Hindu deity Krishna. For centuries pious individuals, families, and community groups have engaged specialist scholar-orators to give week-long oral performances based on this text. Seated on a dais in front of the audience, the orator intones selected Sanskrit verses from the text and narrates the story of Krishna in the local language. These sacred performances are thought to bring blessings and good fortune to those who sponsor, perform, or attend them. Devotees believe that the narratives of Krishna are like the nectar of immortality for those who can appreciate them. In recent years, these events have grown in number, scale, and popularity. Once confined to private homes or temple spaces, contemporary performances now fill vast public arenas such as sports stadiums, and attract live audiences in the tens of thousands while being simulcast around the world. In Seven Days of Nectar, McComas Taylor applies the tools of performance theory to uncover the factors that contribute to the explosive growth of this tradition. His innovative approach, which draws on close textual reading, philology, and ethnography, casts new light on the ways in which narratives are experienced as authentic and transformative and, more broadly, how texts shape societies.

She has done in again. Another book on its way to be a movie, we hope. The book is a definite page turner with incredible characters. Some characters are likeable, some are loved, and well, let's just say that you can be the judge. It's an amazing book that has me still thinking about it. I would love to have been a fly in the story. No, not a fly, but, a beautiful butterfly! The scenery is so beautiful and the fruits are the sweetest smelling and tasting. I love the book very much, I can't wait to read the next one. The author s so talented I wish I could have just a spec of her imagination. To write a book is hard enough, but, then to make it come to life. Wow!" Anne
