Book Description
Fatigue Design, Second Edition discusses solutions of previous problems in fatigue as controlled by their particular conditions. The book aims to demonstrate the limitations of some methods and explores the realism and validity of the resulting solutions. The text is comprised of four chapters that tackle a specific area of concern. Chapter 1 provides the introduction and covers the scope, level, and limitations of the book. Chapter 2 deals with the characteristics of design approach, and Chapter 3 talks about the prediction of fatigue life. The last chapter discusses the general factors in fatigue. The book will be of great interest to researchers and professionals concerned with fatigue analysis, such as engineers and designers.

Book Description
In the preliminary stage of designing new structural hardware to perform a given mission in a fluctuating load environment, there are several factors that the designer should consider. Trade studies for different design configurations should be performed and, based on strength and weight considerations, among others, an optimum configuration selected. The selected design must withstand the environment in question without failure. Therefore, a comprehensive structural analysis that consists of static, dynamic, fatigue, and fracture is necessary to ensure the integrity of the structure. Engineers must also consider the feasibility of fabricating the structural hardware in the material selection process. During the past few decades, fracture mechanics has become a necessary discipline for the solution of many structural problems in which the survivability of structure containing pre-existing flaws is of great interest. These problems include structural failures resulting from cracks that are inherent in the material, or defects that are introduced in the part due to improper handling or rough machining, that must be assessed through fracture mechanics concepts.

Book Description
Electron and Positron Spectroscopies in Materials Science and Engineering presents the advances and limitations of instrumentations for surface and interface probing useful to metallurgical applications. It discusses the Auger electron spectroscopy and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis. It addresses the means to determine the chemistry of the surface. Some of the topics covered in the book are the exo-electron emission; positron annihilation; extended x-ray absorption fine structure; high resolution electron microscopy; uniaxial monotonic deformation-induced dislocation substructure; and analytical electron microscopy. The mechanistic basis for exo-electron spectroscopy is covered. The correlation of fatigue and photoyield are discussed. The text describes the tribostimulated emission. A study of the quantitative measurement of fatigue damage is presented. A chapter is devoted to the fracture of oxide films on aluminium. Another section focuses on the positron annihilation experimental details and the creep-induced dislocation substructure. The book can provide useful information to scientists, engineers, students, and researchers.
