Bleeding can occur when the ink soaks through paper. Feathering happens when the ink spreads out along the paper fibers. Both of these scenarios are more likely when you use more absorbent paper and wet ink. A lot of modern Calligraphy is done with brush pens or felt tip style pens. We have tested this smooth cream 80gsm paper and the Calligraphic pen used has hardly any showthrough to the next page. Results will vary. See video bleed test on my author central page. Showthrough - When writing can be seen on the reverse side of the paper. Thinner gsm papers tend to have a higher showthrough. Showthrough can also be known as "shadowing" or "ghosting".Bleedthrough - When ink soaks through the paper, sometimes even onto the next page. Broad-tipped pens and alcohol-based pens are more prone to this type of bleeding.Feathering - When ink spreads into the fibers of a more absorbent paper due to capillary action.
