Book Description
There are twenty million acres of lawns in North America. In their current form, these unproductive expanses of grass represent a significant financial and environmental cost. However, viewed through a different lens, they can also be seen as a tremendous source of opportunity. Access to land is a major barrier for many people who want to enter the agricultural sector, and urban and suburban yards have huge potential for would-be farmers wanting to become part of this growing movement. The Urban Farmer is a comprehensive, hands-on, practical manual to help you learn the techniques and business strategies you need to make a good living growing high-yield, high-value crops right in your own backyard (or someone else's). Major benefits include: Low capital investment and overhead costs Reduced need for expensive infrastructure Easy access to markets Growing food in the city means that fresh crops may travel only a few blocks from field to table, making this innovative approach the next logical step in the local food movement. Based on a scalable, easily reproduced business model, The Urban Farmer is your complete guide to minimizing risk and maximizing profit by using intensive production in small leased or borrowed spaces. Curtis Stone is the owner/operator of Green City Acres, a commercial urban farm growing vegetables for farmers markets, restaurants, and retail outlets. During his slower months, Curtis works as a public speaker, teacher, and consultant, sharing his story to inspire a new generation of farmers.

Book Description
** B/W EDITION ** Do you want to discover a scientific technique for building your own hydroponic garden? Then keep reading... Hydroponics is a means of growing plants without soil. It makes use of nutrient-rich water or a nutrient solution as well as techniques that allow the plant to grow. You can also use sand or gravel, with added nutrients. In this chapter, you are going to learn the history of the growing art that we call hydroponics. You will also learn about some of its practical uses throughout history. Traditionally, the soil is used to grow plants. It was thought that soil was necessary since plants started out in the earth, with nutrient-rich soils like the strawberry plants that were first grown in the wild before being cultivated for gardens. At some point in history, it was discovered that the soil was not necessary for the growing process. Rather, the role of soil is to act as a reservoir to hold the nutrients that a plant needs in order to grow. Crops grown hydroponically, according to studies, grow faster and healthier and are better than crops grown on soil; this is because they would not have to go through a lot of disadvantages that the soil may present, such as; situations of a break out of a soil-borne disease in the area, the struggle to have to push its way through the soil during germination, the attack from organism and pests that live in the soil. And of course, the plants in hydroponic systems do not have to 'hustle' for nutrients and water because this is basically what they are planted in, in hydroponic systems-water-based mineral nutrient solutions. Hydroponics also helps you save water, which sounds a bit strange when you think of water is essential for this process. Usually, it's every alternate day so that the soil soaks up the water and is transported to the roots. That sounds fine, doesn't it? But that's only a portion of the big picture. Some of the water is bound to seep out of the container, some of it evaporates, and a portion of it seeps further into the soil beyond the plant's roots. So, in practice, the plant essentially only uses up a small portion of the water. Hydroponics uses a simple recirculating mechanism that ensures that the water is fully soaked up by the roots. It means that the portion of water that isn't absorbed by the plant is directly sent to the reservoir. The same water from the reservoir is later pumped up to the plants. Since the reservoir is shut tight, there is no chance for the water to evaporate, and it certainly will not seep out of the bottom of the container. You can save around 80% of the water by switching to hydroponics instead of using regular soil gardening. This book covers the following topics: Equipment Hydroponic Growing System Plant necessities Best plant for hydroponics Pest and disease Choosing the right site for your garden Maintenance of your hydroponic garden And Much More! Do not get scared; hydroponic gardening is not as complicated, tricky, and demanding as your mind is about to convince you that it is; on the contrary, it is very simple! And this is what this book is about-to enlighten you and get you started on having your own hydroponic garden. Ready to get started? Click "Buy Now"!

Hydroponics surely is the most used technique for creating nourishment where the available space is not suitable enough for farming. This science can be described as a soil-less generation since it does not require any kind of field for its purpose: you can comfortably grow your plants in a garden-less apartment. Plant sustenance is conveyed through water, and the plants are held up by latent materials, wire trellising, or different methods. Hydroponic development can be fruitful regardless of whether the dirt is good, and it also needs a smaller amount of water and resists extreme climate, making natural life possible even in the most unfavorable conditions. One of a farmer's most noticeably toilsome tasks is weeds, so it will be a delight for you to know that, with a hydroponic system, you won't need to worry about this issue anymore. This book covers the following topics: ✓ Advantages and disadvantages of hydroponics ✓ Choosing the right hydroponic system ✓ Starting with your hydroponic garden ✓ Pest control ✓ Managing the growth of your plants ✓ Best plants for hydroponic gardening and plants to avoid ✓ Bonus chapter: starting your own hydroponic business ...And much more!

Would you like to build your hydroponic system at home, but you don't know how to start? If your answer is yes, then keep reading!Hydroponics can be described by merely saying that it is a process of growing plants with water and nutrients without the use of soil. The water is given to the roots of the plants that are being grown. The plant roots grow in the substitute in order to secure the plant inside the container. One of the World's Seven Wonders, Babylon's Hanging Gardens, used a primitive type of hydroponics. In the year 1934, a professor at the University of California used this method to cultivate other crops. The result of this experiment was 25-foot-long tomato vineyards, which had to be harvested using ladders. This method was used during World War II for growing vegetables, feeding the Allied troops, on the South Pacific Air Force and naval bases. The cheapest, but most practical and time-consuming way to design a hydroponic garden is to build one yourself. For many, it is not a stumbling block, and the many DIY books on the subject can make it much easier. This is the preferred method for the low-budget hydroponics producer. This book covers the following topics: -Advantage and disadvantage of hydroponic gardening -Hydroponics vs. soil gardening -Starting cultivation with hydroponics technique-Type of Hydroponic grow system -Choosing the right hydroponic system -Best plants with hydroponic -Types of Growing Media -Common problems in hydroponic systems...And much moreMost hydroponic gardening systems are not too difficult to set up. Of course, they require a little more initial work than a traditional garden, but once started, they are much easier to maintain.

Book Description
Use These Hydroponic Gardening Tips And Tricks to build your own Garden efficiently This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to grow your own healthy vegetables and fruits. There are few things more fulfilling than eating food you have grown, and yet, each year, many people miss this opportunity simply because they don’t have suitable soil or land to grow their own produce. However, there are ways of getting over this hurdle; thanks to a system of gardening, which does not require the use of soil. A hydroponic system is one such system. Hydroponics refers to a form of gardening that does not use soil. Instead of growing your crops in soil, you grow them in a solution made of nutrients and water. Think about it: plants, just like human beings, need nutrients in order to grow. Soil houses such nutrients. This is why we plant our crops in soil. But as you know, not all soil is created equal. Some types of soil are deficient in nutrients and this result in poor yields. In addition, as stated before, many people do not have access to land in the first place. This puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to growing their crops. Some amazing benefits of hydroponic gardening include: Faster plant growth – Plants grown in a hydroponic system tend to grow at least 20 percent faster than those grown in soil. Better yields – You can expect 20 t0 25 percent more yield when you adopt hydroponic gardening. Less water - Less water is needed simply because hydroponic systems are enclosed and thus the plants get the water they need instead of such water being distributed to the surrounding environment. Less space – Because the plants have easier access to nutrients when they are grown in a hydroponic system, they do not need to grow deep roots or spread them widely in search of nutrients. Thus, you will be able to grow your plants more closely and thus grow more plants in a smaller space. More freedom to grow your crops – The best thing about hydroponic gardening is that it gives more people the opportunity to grow plants regardless of where they live. You can easily grow crops indoors even if you live in an apartment. No need of soil – With hydroponic gardening, you don’t use soil. Instead, you use what is known as grow medium to house or hold the plants. This is less messy and easier to control than soil. Before you can enjoy the above amazing benefits of opting for hydroponics to grow fruits and vegetables, you will first need to learn how to grow plants using this step. The first thing you need to do is to select a hydroponic system that will allow you to comfortably grow your vegetables and fruits. Here is A Preview Of What You Will Learn.... What is Hydroponic Gardening? Which hydroponic system should I use? Which medium should I choose? What about hydroponic nutrients and pH? Choose a Light Source And Much, Much More!
