Early specimens are merely labeled ¿type.¿ Many are called ¿type lot.¿ Later specimens or earlier specimens studied by later workers are designated ¿holotype.¿ The terms ¿cotype¿ & ¿syntype¿ are used synonymously according to the use of the original worker advising on the chapter. There may be some variation in the biblio. ref. because of the usage of the specialist working on the chapter in question. However, the ref. are clear enough so that the researcher can locate the original description.
