Book Description
The Recurrence of the End Times: Voegelin, Hegel, and the Stop-History Movements explores the deep connection between modern political ideologies and the secular eschatological hopes and dreams of a post-Christian society. Focusing primarily upon the thought of 20th century German émigré political scientist Eric Voegelin, the book argues that we cannot understand the globalized world in which we live unless we appreciate the lasting influence of the various "End of History" speculators—specifically, G.W.F Hegel, Alexandre Kojève, and Francis Fukuyama. Through a Voegelinian lens, he dissects the relationship between these three thinkers, also claiming that while Voegelin may have misunderstood Hegel, his critiques of the Hegelian approach to history offer fresh and important perspectives on the contemporary world. This makes a forceful argument that the idea of history as a teleological path, leading toward some goal—whether perfect harmony between nations, a technocratic utopia, a return to some romanticized idyllic “state of nature,” or what Kojève and Fukuyama called the “universal and homogenous State”—has vast, and perverse, implications for the trajectory of American foreign and domestic policy.

Book Description
Whether the world ends tomorrow or lasts for centuries, we all exist in a 'climate' of the End of Days. As Thomas Merton wrote, 'We live in an age of two superimposed eschatologies: that of secular anxieties and hopes, and that of revealed fulfillment. Sometimes the first is merely mistaken for the second, sometimes it results from complete denial and despair of the second.' The 'end of time' obviously relates to history, but-just as obviously-it cannot be contained within it. Legends of the End have always been with us; every spiritual tradition that has a story of the beginning of things must also have one of their final end-the end of the earth, of the universe, of time itself. And just as all such myths symbolize invisible realities, so every historical event is precisely an invisible reality made visible and tangible. This book takes a look at eight Legends of the End: Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hopi, and Lakota. When these stories are placed side-by-side, great differences and startling similarities become apparent-similarities both in broad outlines and in minute details. In light of this traditional lore, the author begins and concludes with a penetrating spiritual meditation on the meaning of the End. Without a grasp of this meaning, to date the End is impossible. With such a grasp, even the most accurate dating is irrelevant, for to know the meaning of the End of Days is already to be beyond it. 'Charles Upton is a serious thinker from whom I have learned much. His writing merits close attention.' - Huston Smith, author of The World's Religions, etc.

Book Description
This book is intended to be a primer, for those who are starting a study of the end times. It will present you with information about some important theological topics from the Bible, which you probably have not heard about previously, or have heard very little about. The topics start with the Rapture of the Church to heaven. This is the resurrection of the dead Christians and the transformation of the living believers. Then the book proceeds to the tribulation, which is a time of intense trouble coming to this earth. There will never be another time on the earth as terrible as this tribulation period ever again. The book continues through to the millennium rule of Christ, and unto the renovation of the old earth. Finally, the reader is introduced to the newly created Heaven and Earth, where no sinners will be allowed. In the New Earth, everyone will live sinless and peaceful lives for all eternity, with God and Christ as king. The chapters proceeds logically, however they can be read in any order, as though they were independent essays. Dr. F. Carl Gilkes was educated and worked as an electronics communications engineer. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from CUNY of New York. After working for approximately fifteen years in the Aircraft Telecommunications and Air Navigation Industry, he changed his focus. He turned his attention to full time studies in Theology. He earned his Doctorate degree, majoring in Theology from MISD of Indiana. Presently he is focusing his attention on evangelism to the non-evangelical, or the traditional religions, such as Anglicans, Roman Catholics, and similar religious groups.

Book Description
From the Middle Eastern politics of Donald Trump to the UK's 2016 EU Referendum, large numbers of Christians are making decisions based on the alleged "end-times" aspects of modern politics. Such apocalyptic views often operate beneath "the radar" of much Christian thought and expression. In this book, historian Martyn Whittock argues that while the New Testament does indeed teach the second coming of Christ, complications occur when Christians seek to confidently identify contemporary events as fulfilments of prophecy. Such believers are usually unaware that they stand in a long line of such well-intended but failed predictions. In this book, Whittock explores the history of end-times speculations over two thousand years, revealing how these often reflect the ideologies and outlooks of contemporary society in their application of Scripture. When Christians ignore such past mistakes, they are in danger of repeating them. Jesus, Whittock argues, taught a different way.
