Playing on the frequently used metaphors of the 'turn toward' or 'turn back' in scholarship on religion, The Turn Around Religion in America offers a model of religion that moves in a reciprocal relationship between these two poles. In particular, this volume dedicates itself to a reading of religion and of religious meaning that cannot be reduced to history or ideology on the one hand or to truth or spirit on the other, but is rather the product of the constant play between the historical particulars that manifest beliefs and the beliefs that take shape through them. Taking as their point of departure the foundational scholarship of Sacvan Bercovitch, the contributors locate the universal in the ongoing and particularized attempts of American authors from the seventeenth century forward to get it - whatever that 'it' might be - right. Rev. Joy Vassal was born in Allison, Manchester-Jamaica West Indies. While she was living in Jamaica she studied at Beaumont College and graduated from Caledonia Educational College Jamaica. When she came to Toronto, Canada, she continued her education, where she matriculated in the Ministerial Affirmation and the Ministerial Internship Programs offered by the Church of God and Lee College (now Lee University) in Cleveland, Tennessee. She obtained an Addiction Social Worker's Diploma at Everest College (formerly CDI College). She is currently attending Tyndale University and Seminary. Joy is a devoted member of the West Toronto New Testament Church of God, where she serves as Missions Representative. Joy is a prolific playwright. Her playwriting skills were exemplified in The Old Man and the New Man drama production that she wrote and produced. It was an educative and insightful episode, which was developed for television in 1999. She also produced two other plays, Gloria Suffering and The King Is Coming. Adding to her writing schedule, she writes for Miles magazine, Canada's first Christian magazine covering current events, issues and testimonials worldwide.

This 1967 edition of the Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems is a revision of a 1953 edition. It includes a foreword by Albert Einstein, which is presented in en face German and English versions. The translation itself is based on the definitive National Edition prepared under the direction of Antonio Favaro and published at Florence in 1897. The material specifically added to the text by Galileo himself after publication of the first edition (1632) has been included as well. In addition, the margins of the book include translations of Galileo's own postils (running notes), placed as nearly as possible beside their textual references.
