Book Description
Academic Paper from the year 2021 in the subject Pedagogy - School System, Educational and School Politics, grade: 1.00, University of the Philippines (College of Education), course: Educational Administration, language: English, abstract: Major education surveys and missions have labeled Philippine education as problematic from the period of 1925 to 2000. One of the major findings from these reports was the excessive centralization of the Philippine education. On the positive side, as time has passed, people have become more receptive to new policy ideas. Republic Act (RA) 9155, or the Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001, has helped the Department of Education (DepEd) reach its present “improved” status. In this paper, the said Act is examined using the Bardach and Patashnik model (2016). The majority of the references written before the passage of the law were studied to look into the history of problems and events that influenced the drafting of the law. The Bardach and Patashnik model involves the analysis of eight stages of policy cycle. Each part will be explained in the succeeding paragraphs.

Book Description
"It is much noble to lead when subordinates respect the leader not by his position but because of his convictions toward the good of the organization. Simply put, his or her mere presence, words and actions inspire the people. With authority goes accountability to safeguard public interests as stipulated in RA 9155 otherwise known as the 'Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001' which set the framework for basic education, its authority and accountability. It is the purpose of this book to serve as a guide to new school heads particularly in the public schools to develop their potentials as leaders and help them lead their people. Along this line is the desire to give premium to the importance of people skills in relating to teachers, learners and other employees in the working environment to establish stable leadership and governance." --ALLAN L. ACOSTA, MAEM. "The school perspective in this piece of Educational Management literature is what makes it a practical guide to young school heads who are just beginning to face the gargantuan challenge of leadership considering the expanding horizon in managing education systems. In today's school setting administrative and even management itself as disciplines tend to give way to leadership as the sinequanon of effectiveness." --EPIFANIO B. BUELA, Ed.D, CESO IV, Schools Division Superintendent (Retired).

Book Description
This book is based on a review of the literature on decentralization and teacher management. The focus is on basic formal education, mainly the primary and junior secondary levels of schooling, and on presenting a rationale for decentralizing teacher management. The book presents three models of decentralized teacher management, explores the different functions of teacher management and how these functions are handled in centralized and decentralized systems, examines the design of decentralization reforms in various countries, and discusses the political feasibility and legal implications of decentralizing teacher management. Since reliable data on decentralizing teacher management are limited, the changes that are described--changes that will affect the quality of teaching or learning--are tentative. Although recommendations for planners and policymakers are included, the book emphasizes the viability of the approaches taken so far and the available evidence regarding their efficacy. Book Description
Document from the year 2020 in the subject Guidebooks - School, Education, Pedagogy, grade: 1.2, , language: English, abstract: Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators, but learners may also educate themselves. Education can take place in formal or informal settings and any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. Education is commonly divided formally into such stages as preschool or kindergarten, primary school, secondary school and then college, university, or apprenticeship. Like the teaching profession, education systems are, by nature, extremely complex and multifaceted, and the challenges entailed in reforming or improving them can be similarly complex and multifaceted. Even reforms that appear to be straightforward, simple, or easily achieved may, in practice, require complicated state-policy changes, union-contract negotiations, school-schedule modifications, or countless other conditions. Education in Canada is a very high priority of the government. The country boasts a state-run system of public education, one that is provided, funded and administered by federal, provincial and local governments. Jurisdiction of the public education system, as well its curriculum, is overseen by each province. The Council of Ministers of Education is a forum for education ministers to discuss matters related to education, coordinate education activities and share information. Education in the Philippines is a 13-year compulsory education which is divided into Kindergarten, Primary Education, Junior High School, and Senior High School. K-12 is a program that covers kindergarten and 12 years of basic education to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.
