Im ersten Teil der Arbeit werden die theoretischen Grundlagen betrachtet und im zweiten Teil das Buch analysiert. Im Anschluss erfolgt eine Reflektion über die Bearbeitung der Thematik. Insbesondere der Literaturunterricht eignet sich, um Interkulturalität zu erfahren und zu reflektieren. Ein gut gewähltes Bilderbuch kann bei Schülerinnen und Schülern zur unmittelbaren Erfahrung einer ästhetischen Empfindung führen. Es kann aber auch einen positiven Einfluss auf das Verstehen anderer Kulturen und somit eine wesentliche Hilfe zur Persönlichkeitsbildung sowie zur moralischen Urteilskraft leisten.

Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Den Zahlen des statistischen Bundesamtes zufolge lebten im Jahre 2005 in der BRD rund 7,3 Millionen ausländische Bürger, davon 1.796.696 türkischstämmige Migranten. Die zunehmende kulturelle Heterogenität seit einigen Jahrzehnten und gescheiterte Integrationsversuche zogen nicht nur politische und gesellschaftliche Konflikte mit sich. Zafer Senocak, ein türkischer Autor, der seit mehreren Jahren in Deutschland lebt, spiegelt in seinem Gedicht eindrucksvoll und treffend die soziokulturelle Situation von Migranten, die zwischen „zwei Welten“ ihre Identität verloren haben, wider. Die gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen wirken sich auch auf die Schulen aus, die darauf reagieren müssen. Lehrkräfte werden immer mehr mit Anforderungen konfrontiert, die aus diesem gesellschaftlichen Wandel resultieren. Diese kulturelle Vielfalt in der Gesellschaft stellt jedoch auch ein Potenzial dar, das neue Perspektiven, Chancen und Möglichkeiten bietet. Die Bedeutung der heranwachsenden Generation für das interkulturelle Miteinander muss erkannt und der Unterricht für andere Kulturen geöffnet werden. Durch das interkulturelle Lernen, das auf Toleranz und gegenseitigem Verständnis basiert, können Schüler interkulturelle Kompetenzen erwerben und im Zeitalter der Globalisierung optimal auf ihre Zukunft vorbereitet werden. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Notwendigkeit einer Ausweitung des Deutschunterrichts auf interkulturelle Kontexte darzulegen. Sie soll herausarbeiten, inwieweit der Einsatz von türkischer Migrantenliteratur im gymnasialen Deutschunterricht zum interkulturellen Lernen beitragen kann. Im zweiten Kapitel werden zunächst die Hintergründe der Arbeitsmigration in Deutschland aufgedeckt und auf die Entstehung sowie Verbreitung der Migrantenliteratur eingegangen. Die türkischstämmigen Autoren, deren literarische Werke im Deutschunterricht vermittelt werden sollen, migrierten im Zuge der Arbeiterwanderung mit ihren Familien oder alleine nach Deutschland. Das dritte Kapitel stellt diese Autoren und ihre literarischen Werke vor. Im vierten Kapitel werden fünf prosaische und lyrische Texte dieser Autoren thematisch analysiert, sowie für den Deutschunterricht didaktisiert. Dabei gilt das Hauptinteresse der Sprache und wie sich diese seit den Anfängen der „Gastarbeiterliteratur“ mit den sozialen und kulturellen Gegebenheiten verändert hat. How do schools worldwide treat the Holocaust as a subject? In which countries does the Holocaust form part of classroom teaching? Are representations of the Holocaust always accurate, balanced and unprejudiced in curricula and textbooks? This study, carried out by UNESCO and the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research, compares for the first time representations of the Holocaust in school textbooks and national curricula. Drawing on data which includes countries in which there exists no or little information about representations of the Holocaust, the study shows where the Holocaust is established in official guidelines, and contains a close textbook study, focusing on the comprehensiveness and accuracy of representations and historical narratives. The book highlights evolving practices worldwide and thus provides education stakeholders with comprehensive documentation about current trends in curricula directives and textbook representations of the Holocaust. It further formulates recommendations that will help policy-makers provide the educational means by which pupils may develop Holocaust literacy.

Refugees from the violence of wars and the brutality of famished lives have knocked on other people's doors since the beginning of time. For the people behind the doors, these uninvited guests were always strangers, and strangers tend to generate fear and anxiety precisely because they are unknown. Today we find ourselves confronted with an extreme form of this historical dynamic, as our TV screens and newspapers are filled with accounts of a 'migration crisis', ostensibly overwhelming Europe and portending the collapse of our way of life. This anxious debate has given rise to a veritable 'moral panic' - a feeling of fear spreading among a large number of people that some evil threatens the well-being of society. In this short book Zygmunt Bauman analyses the origins, contours and impact of this moral panic - he dissects, in short, the present-day migration panic. He shows how politicians have exploited fears and anxieties that have become widespread, especially among those who have already lost so much - the disinherited and the poor. But he argues that the policy of mutual separation, of building walls rather than bridges, is misguided. It may bring some short-term reassurance but it is doomed to fail in the long run. We are faced with a crisis of humanity, and the only exit from this crisis is to recognize our growing interdependence as a species and to find new ways to live together in solidarity and cooperation, amidst strangers who may hold opinions and preferences different from our own.
