Dazu werden in Kapitel zwei die Literaturdidaktischen Kompetenzen von Abraham und Kepser aufgeführt, welche von den definierten Teilkompetenzen von Willenberg, Haas und Frederking ergänzt wurden. Darauf folgt die Aufgaben und Ziele des Literaturunterrichts nach Spinner. Hervorzuheben ist hier nochmals, dass eine grundsätzliche Lesemotivation das oberste Ziel ist. Zum Abschluss an dieses informatorische Kapitel wurden die Methoden des Literaturunterrichts nach Spinner genannt, die die Etablierung einer Lesekultur zum Ziel haben, sodass die Kinder nicht nur im Umfeld Schule zum Buch greifen. Unterstützt wurden diese Methoden durch die Phasenmodelle von Kreft und Fritzsche, die als Anhaltspunkt zur Unterstützung im Literaturunterricht dienen. In Kapitel drei werden speziell der interkulturelle Literaturunterricht behandelt und der Frage nachgegangen, warum interkulturelle Bildung immer wichtiger wird. Es werden Ziele wie die Offenheit für Fremdes oder das Wissen über die Vielfalt genannt und Methoden erläutert, um die Ziele zu erreichen. Zusammenfassend soll der interkulturelle Literaturunterricht mit Hilfe von kognitivem Wissen, handlungsorientiertes Lernen und Wahrnehmung interkultureller Situationen zu einem Bewusstwerden der eigenen Einstellung und Wertehaltung führen, um so eine Toleranzfähigkeit zu entwickeln.
