Book Description
Would you believe that the path to financial prosperity and happiness is as simple as finding your magic number? Have you ever considered that a plan for getting rich the right way, as opposed to just the quick way, can help you construct the life of your dreams? When entrepreneur Adrian J. Cartwood found himself with a hemorrhaging business that was $30,000 in debt, he decided to do a little personal accounting—and determine how much money he needed for the life of his dreams. Seven years later, he has more than seven million dollars in the bank. Just how did he dream up those dollars? He simply found his magic number, and the path to personal wealth and lifelong gratification followed suit. Now, Cartwood has teamed up with associate Debbie Dragon to create the revolutionary personal finance book, Share Your Number. The guiding principle of this accessible, actionable guide is that your life isn't about simply trying to make money to live. On the contrary, your money is simply there to help you live your life to the fullest. And, when you find your life's purpose, the money will soon follow. Whether it's cultural travel, a comfortable home for your family, or ample free time, identifying your purpose is the key to laying down a profitable and achievable financial plan. Through tables, real-life case studies, and easy-to-follow examples, Share Your Number guides readers through the process of establishing life goals, and translating those into a clear-cut financial number to aim for—and then achieve. By pinpointing your driving passions, you'll turn them into the cash you need for your dream life. Share Your Number also takes it one step further, providing insight on how exactly how to get that cash in the bank. It gives readers a clear roadmap to determine a purpose to their lives that excites them into action, one that is far bigger and more important and fulfilling than their current nine-to-five jobs. Share Your Number then demonstrates, in step-by-step detail, how each person can calculate how much money he or she needs—the magic number. The book also instructs on adjusting that number for inflation and selecting the investment tools required for reaching the number. Inspiring, challenging, and straightforward, Share Your Number will give you the confidence and optimism you need to live life, and make money, on your own terms. It is certain to forever change the way you look at numbers—and the way you look at your life.

Book Description
DIV ‘Fantastic debut’ Time Out 5-Star Review 'Its randomness is its joy' The Independent 'A picaresque travelogue about chasing an idea through down-home modern America.' The Times What do you do if you want to get underneath the skin of a country, to understand its people and feel its heartbeat? You can follow the rest of the tourists, or you can take the advice of Watergate reporter Bob Woodward’s source, ‘Deep Throat’, and ‘follow the money.’ Starting out in Lebanon, Kansas – the geographical centre of America – journalist Steve Boggan did just that by setting free a ten-dollar-bill and accompanying it on an epic journey for thirty days and thirty nights through six states across 3,000 miles armed only with a sense of humour and a small, and increasingly grubby, set of clothes. As he cuts crops with farmers in Kansas, pursues a repo-woman from Colorado, gets wasted with a blues band in Arkansas and hangs out at a quarterback’s mansion in St Louis, Boggan enters the lives of ordinary people as they receive – and pass on – the bill. What emerges is a chaotic, affectionate and funny portrait of a modern-day America that tourists rarely see. /div

Book Description
In Vietnam, international remittances from the Vietnamese diaspora are quantitatively significant and contribute important economic inputs. Yet beyond capital transfer, these diasporic remittance economies offer insight into an unfolding transformation of Vietnamese society through the extension of imaginations and ontological possibilities that accompany them. Currencies of Imagination examines the complex role of remittances as money and as gifts that flow across, and mediate between, transnational kinship networks dispersed by exile and migration. Long distance international gift exchanges and channels in a neoliberal political economy juxtapose the increasing cross-border mobility of remittance financial flows against the relative confines of state bounded bodies. In this contradiction Ivan V. Small reveals a creative space for emergent imaginaries that disrupt local structures and scales of desire, labor and expectation. Furthermore, the particular characteristics of remittance channels and mediums in a global economy, including transnational mobility and exchangeable value, affect and reflect the relations, aspirations, and orientations of the exchange participants. Small traces a genealogy of how this phenomenon has shifted through changing remittance forms and transfer infrastructures, from material and black market to formal bank and money services. Transformations in the affective and institutional relations among givers, receivers, and remittance facilitators accompany each of these shifts, illustrating that the socio-cultural work of remittances extends far beyond the formal economic realm they are usually consigned to.

Book Description
A “thrilling, well-researched” account of years of scandal at the prestigious Getty Museum (Ulrich Boser, author of The Gardner Heist). In recent years, several of America’s leading art museums have voluntarily given up their finest pieces of classical art to the governments of Italy and Greece. Why would they be moved to such unheard-of generosity? The answer lies at the Getty, one of the world’s richest and most troubled museums, and scandalous revelations that it had been buying looted antiquities for decades. Drawing on a trove of confidential museum records and candid interviews, these two journalists give us a fly-on-the-wall account of the inner workings of a world-class museum, and tell a story of outlandish characters and bad behavior that could come straight from the pages of a thriller. “In an authoritative account, two reporters who led a Los Angeles Times investigation reveal the details of the Getty Museum’s illicit purchases, from smugglers and fences, of looted Greek and Roman antiquities. . . . The authors offer an excellent recap of the museum’s misdeeds, brimming with tasty details of the scandal that motivated several of America’s leading art museums to voluntarily return to Italy and Greece some 100 classical antiquities worth more than half a billion dollars.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review “An astonishing and penetrating look into a veiled world where beauty and art are in constant competition with greed and hypocrisy. This engaging book will cast a fresh light on many of those gleaming objects you see in art museums.” —Jonathan Harr, author of The Lost Painting

Book Description
"This new work by Margaret E. Beare and Stephen Schneider brings empirical evidence to the study of money laundering in Canada. The authors challenge the dominant, seemingly common-sense notion, fuelled by political posturing and policing rhetoric, that taking the profits away from criminals (proceeds of crime enforcement) is a rational and effective tactic. Using extensive research involving records gathered from police, financial institutions, and legal sources, the authors paint a picture of a dubiousenforcement strategy beset by conflicting interests and agendas, an overly ambitious set of expectations, and reliance on an ambiguous body of evidence as to the strategy's overall merits."--BOOK JACKET.
