Book Description
Breaking Out of Prison with Jesus explains the challenges that ex-offenders face as they reenter society. The central theme of the book highlights how a personal saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only path to successfully transition out of prison. Christian Aftercare Ministries (CAM) provides the spiritual and physical support as well as accountability to help men and women successfully reenter society. Breaking Out of Prison with Jesus describes the key steps that puts the ex-offender on a path to a positive Christian life after prison. CAM and its support network help and encourage clients to find a good job and safe housing, as well as connect with a Bible-believing church where they live. Attending Bible studies with supportive Christian leaders is also critical. A number of prison chaplains, local pastors, and laypeople volunteer both in prisons and on the outside to provide these opportunities. CAM's strategy is to have each client know and experience a strong Christian support structure surrounding them. Relying on Jesus and their faith is at the foundation of their success. Ex-offenders face many challenges on the outside. Falling into old habits and old relationships can sometimes put them right back in prison. Breaking out of that cycle through their faith in Jesus and the support of ministries like CAM is possible, as the many success stories highlighted in the book illustrate. CAM also desires young people to see that serving Jesus in prison ministry is one of the greatest blessings and to get involved in sharing the Gospel in prisons and jails and through aftercare ministries like CAM.

Has someone placed so many restrictions and restraints upon you that you felt like you were living in a box of someone else’s making? When Paul wrote the Book of Galatians, he was imprisoned physically. His crime was refusing to worship the emperor. But Paul, a Christian and practicing believer who lived his faith, refused to worship someone other than God. In Breaking Out of Life’s Spiritual Prisons, author Keith D. Pisani explains Paul’s teachings in Galatians. It presents a balanced approach to spiritual freedoms. Geared toward use in small group Bible studies and in other study venues, it features break-out sessions that include study questions and practical exercises to help believers grow and live free in Jesus—outside of and apart from the religious comfort zones established by others. In addition to this book, Pisani has produced the companion Bible study for use in personal and group settings, Breaking Out of Life’s Spiritual Prisons: A Bible Study Guide.

Book Description
He then traces the rise and fall of "the messianic idea"' in Jewish studies and gives an alternative account of early Jewish messiah language: the convention worked because there existed both an accessible pool of linguistic resources and a community of competent language users. Whereas it is commonly objected that the normal rules for understanding "christos" do not apply in the case of Paul since he uses the word as a name rather than a title, Novenson shows that "christos" in Paul is neither a name nor a title but rather a Greek honorific, like Epiphanes or Augustus. Focusing on several set phrases that have been taken as evidence that Paul either did or did not use "christos" in its conventional sense, Novenson concludes that the question cannot be settled at the level of formal grammar. Examining nine passages in which Paul comments on how he means the word "christos", Novenson shows that they do all that we normally expect any text to do to count as a messiah text.

Book Description
For Paul, who imprisoned Christians, his own incarceration ironically became a way in which he understood his mission. Paul's convictions and his rhetoric were often shaped during those times when chains constrained him from travelling. By examining a wide variety of sources-such as ancient novels, dream interpretations and moral tractates-Wansink first describes prison conditions and the daily life of prisoners, in the Graeco-Roman world. Subsequent exegetical chapters focus on two epistles Paul wrote from prison: Philippians and Philemon. This book replaces a 'docetic' view of Paul's incarceration with an original insight into how prison would have shaped his interaction with the Philippians and Philemon.
