Verizon Thinkfinity

Verizon Literacy Network is now Verizon Thinkfinity!

This new site is funded by Verizon and designed to leverage technology to deliver valuable training and tools to anyone interested in improving literacy - at home, in the classroom, or in the community.

The goals of Verizon Thinkfinity are to:

  • Leverage technology to expand community access and collaboration
  • Identify and promote use of best practices for 21st century literacy
  • Connect resources and initiatives to support literacy across the lifespan

There are now 43 free, self-paced online courses.  Among the new courses launched in the last few months are, "Improving Learning Gains Through Intensity of Instruction", "Using the Newspaper in Adult and ESL Instruction", and "Reducing Student Waiting Lists".

Another feature of the new site is the Verizon Life Span Literacy Matrix, a tool to help programs assess and measure effective reading research-based practices that enable programs and individuals to increase literacy development across the lifespan.

Verizon has also added a new Technology category to the Thinkfinity.  Among the new worksheets in the Technology category are:

  • Adding Media Files to Power Point Presentations
  • Create Your First Web Page
  • Participating in Discussion Lists
  • Writing a Proposal for a Technology Grant
