Waverly Elementary Students are "Spooktacular"
On
Halloween, the second grade students at Waverly Elementary School were treated
to a “Spooktacular” reading event sponsored by Cleveland Reads and Star
Readers. The classroom filled with 65 students, was full of energy and excitement. (Let’s hope it wasn’t due to
any premature Halloween candy!) Many of the children were anxious to know what
was going to happen and why all the strangers were entering their classroom.
The children soon discovered that Cleveland Reads and Star Readers teamed up to
give them an unforgettable Halloween adventure.
Special star reader, Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones along with his seven-year-old son Evan, were the highlight of the event and the students loved the various Halloween stories and poems that were read. Upon conclusion of the reading, each student received a Halloween goodie bag filled with a book, toothbrush and toothpaste, apple juice, an apple, and candy. The goodie bags were compliments of Cleveland Reads, Case Dental School, Giant Eagle and CVS.
