Organizing a Book Drive

Book drives are a great way to recycle new and gently used books back into the community to individuals and organizations who need them.  Many literacy organizations have few funds available to purchase new books needed for tutoring people of all ages.  Out of respect for the organizations we work with, we have developed a few guidelines to follow when organizing book drives.

  • Collect new or gently used books for readers of all ages

  • Please refrain from donating the following items:

    • Magazines

    • Textbooks

    • Out of Date Encyclopedias

    • Almanacs

    • Books in specialized areas such as "Do It Yourself" books

  • Call Cleveland Reads at 216-436-2222 to arrange for delivery of donation

Another great way to provide new books in lieu of a book drive is demonstrated by two 3rd grade classrooms at West Park Community School.  Click here to read about their creative way to provide other children with new books.
