A Toast to Literacy is another Success!
Cleveland Reads would like to extend a heartfelt
THANK YOU to all of our supporters and donors for making the 7th
Reds, Whites, & Brews: A Toast
to Literacy a HUGE success again this year. The fabulous
event was held at the Shoreby Club on July 19th,
2008, and lent itself to a night of wine tasting, easy
conversation, and relaxation by the lake.

A Celebration of Volunteers
April marks National Volunteer Week, a time when Cleveland Reads
acknowledges the many literacy tutors in Greater Cleveland.
This year marks the 11th Annual Volunteer Reception.

Home & Garden Show to
benefit Cleveland Reads
From February 2-10, 2008, the 65th Annual Home & Garden Show
will take place at the I-X Center. For each patron that
brings a new book, they will receive $1 off admission and the
book will be donated to Cleveland Reads.

Waverly Elementary
Students are "Spooktacular"
On Halloween, the second grade students at Waverly
Elementary School were treated to a “Spooktacular” reading event
sponsored by Cleveland Reads and Star Readers. The
classroom filled with 65 students, was full of energy and
excitement.

Patrons donate 4,000 books
to Cleveland Reads!
With the help of 11 Borders, Borders Express and Waldenbooks
Stores, Cleveland Reads collected nearly 4,000 books to
be donated to various literacy organizations throughout Greater
Cleveland.

A Toast to
Literacy
Cleveland Reads' annual benefit, "Reds, Whites,
and Brews: A Toast to Literacy," held on Saturday, May 19th was
a gala evening of wine and beer tasting, delicious food, and
animated conversation. Thanks to all of Greater
Cleveland's literacy advocates and supporters, we had our best
year ever raising upwards of $90,000 in support of our literacy
efforts!

"Pennies for Pages" Benefits
Cleveland Reads and Needy Children
On May 16th, a beautiful spring afternoon, Cleveland Reads
headed to West Park Community School to meet some very special
third graders. For the second consecutive spring vacation,
West Park Community School students participated in a "Pennies
for Pages" project. More
