Patrons Donate 4,000 Books to
Cleveland Reads

With the help of 11 Borders, Borders Express and Waldenbooks Stores, Cleveland Reads collected nearly 4,000 books to be donated to various literacy organizations throughout Greater Cleveland.

“We are thrilled with the results of this book drive and it would not have been possible without the wonderful patrons of Borders, Borders Express, and Waldenbooks. This has enabled us to leverage more of our resources and give others the opportunity to receive additional materials for their programs. The book drive was a great tool to ensure literacy continues to progress in our community,” said Catherine Thomas, Executive Director of Cleveland Reads.

At this time, almost 2,000 books have been given to organizations that offer early literacy programs, general tutoring for youth, and adult education programs:

  • Pre-Release Center

  • City of Lakewood-Department of Health

  • Cleveland Hearing & Speech

  • Salvation Army Painesville

  • Kids Health 20/20

  • Heights Parent Center

  • Open Doors

  • Lakewood ABLE

  • Shaker Family Center

  • Daily Dose

  • E Prep

Cleveland Reads is the primary resource for more than 130 youth and adult education programs. It works beyond the boundaries of any one literacy organization to strengthen and enhance literacy efforts in Greater Cleveland.
